The Story Behind Jacobs Hotel

A family-owned hotel in the heart of Ringkøbing

Jacobs Hotel was established in 2026 and is owned and operated by two generations of the Rasmussen family. The family also owns Hotel Town Living on the town square in Ringkøbing and has more than 50 years of combined experience in hotel operations, guest service and holiday accommodation.

From 1997 to 2007, the family owned and operated Hotel Ringkøbing on the town square in Ringkøbing. Since then, the family has worked from its base in Ringkøbing with holiday home rentals in both Denmark and Germany.

In 2018, the family opened Hotel Town Living on the town square in Ringkøbing with 11 rooms. In the years that followed, the wish arose to find a historic property in the town with soul, character and the potential to be transformed into a cosy hotel.

The choice fell on Østergade 4 in Ringkøbing. Here, the family saw an opportunity to create a hotel that could both contribute to the life of the town and offer guests an atmospheric base in the heart of Ringkøbing.

Historic surroundings brought back to life

The property at Østergade 4 was built in 1900 and has served many different purposes over the years. The building has, among other things, housed a café, a glazier, a hairdresser and a paint shop, while parts of the property have also previously been used as residential accommodation.

When the family took over the property, the buildings had stood empty and unused for several years, and their general condition was very poor. But behind the worn-down surroundings was a property with history, atmosphere and great potential.

Some of the buildings had previously been used as a café. The café was named after a former owner of the property, who ran a glazier's business and was known by the nickname "Teske".

With respect for the history of the property, plans were made for an extensive renovation. The aim was not simply to create modern hotel rooms, but to preserve the feeling of a building with a past, character and local roots.

From renovation to cosy hotel

In July 2023, the Rasmussen family purchased the property at Østergade 4 and began planning a complete conversion into a hotel.

The renovation became an extensive process, in which the buildings had to be renovated from the ground up and adapted to their new function as a modern hotel. The work took almost three years, and throughout the process, great emphasis was placed on creating the right balance between old and new.

The result was Jacobs Hotel. A small, family-owned hotel with 11 suites and hotel apartments in historic surroundings in the heart of Ringkøbing.

In May 2026, the family was able to open the doors to the hotel and welcome the first guests.
